On 8 October 2015, the Prize for the Freedom and Future of the Media of Media Foundation of Sparkasse Leipzig was awarded to Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi and the Turkish journalist Nedim Sener during a festive event. For Panahi, his brother Yousef accepted the award.
